Beginners training at London Aikido Dojo Beginners class at our Canada Water / Surrey Quays dojo Aikido beginners on the mat Students practising at London Aikido Dojo Beginners session at London Aikido Dojo

Course Overview

The course runs every Thursday for six consecutive weeks, from 7:00pm to 8:00pm, starting Thursday 17 September 2026 and finishing on Thursday 22 October 2026. Each week builds on the last, so attending all six sessions will give you the strongest foundation.

Aikido is a Japanese martial art built on using balance, timing and an attacker's own momentum rather than meeting force with force - principles that give it practical self-defence applications. This course is a structured introduction to those foundations. You will focus on the first few techniques of the randori-no-kata, alongside the essential physical skills required to practise safely and effectively.

No previous experience is required - just loose, comfortable exercise clothing (long trousers and a T-shirt). For safety, no jewellery or sharp accessories are permitted on the mat.
